We are a non-profit org founded on advocating for transparency and protection in both environmental and governmental processes.
Our actions include:
Greenfield
Once the site of a historic plantation, the Botetourt County site has endured insult and injury over the years as it became more and more industrial. The site was originally taken over by the County as a source for public good and recreation. In ways that was true – an elementary school was built, walking trails, frisbee golf, creeks and a pond flourished, and soccer and baseball fields were built. In some areas, light industrial facilities worked in partnership with these public features, but in others, the needs of big industry superseded the will of the people. Historic buildings such as a kitchen house and dwellings of the enslaved populations at Greenfield were relocated, and despite promises and funds raised, have still not been preserved or adequately protected.
Now, that history is being further damaged by Google. During the holiday season of 2024, Google and Botetourt Count began to push through ‘Project Raspberry’ behind closed doors. Despite widespread public opposition, they have continued to subvert the truth and damages caused to both humans and our environment. The unethical practices of Google and Botetourt County have gotten so extreme that citizens are now bringing legal action.
What you can do:
- Comment on AEP’s SCC Filings for major new powerlines and substations in Botetourt. Tell them new infrastructure should be for people not data centers Here,

Wood Haven
While the public from all over our region protested the use of our diminishing water supply for the Google project at Greenfield, behind closed doors elected and appointed officials continued to advance the interest of Big Tech.
On September 11 2026, the Western Virginia Regional Industrial Facilities Association sold land at Wood Haven to an unnamed developer. They refused both at that meeting and afterwards to disclose the buyer and details of what they had done.
After continuing to give community members the run-around through expensive FOIA requests and then issuing redacted copies, John Hull and WRIFA only disclosed the truth after notice of an impending FOIA lawsuit was issued. That suit and community efforts are the only reason we know that the Wood Haven deal is for Google. The company’s second proposed development that will imperil our public health, environment, and water supply.

NextEra/Dominion
The proposed merger between Dominion, Virginia’s power company, and NextEra, a Florida-based energy company, would form one of the largest energy monopolies in the world.
Why? To better serve data center projects and Big Tech companies like Google. NextEra is a Florida company that has already been found guilty of running ghost candidates in elections and inflating customer rates. They would be a risk to Virginians, and are only here because of their ties to Google, Nvidia, and the Mountain Valley Pipeline. Say No! here

MVP Boost
The newest insult in a long line of harms caused by The Mountain Valley Pipeline is the MVP Boost project.
Our friends at POWHR have been fighting for years to keep our communities safe and our environment clean. They raised the alarm as rumors swirled that the company was increasing its energy capacity to the area and a new compressor station would be built as a way to serve data centers in our region.
NextEra and Roanoke Gas are both involved with this project that does not serve the people, it only serves Big Tech.
